- Adventure
Cycling Association: Adventure Cycling's mission is to inspire
people of all ages to travel by bicycle. The group helps cyclists
explore the landscapes
and
history of
America for fitness, fun, and self- discovery.
- America
Bikes: A coalition
of individuals, businesses and organizations working to include good bicycle
provisions in federal transportation funding legislation.
- Belleville
Area Bicycling and Eating Society:
This group, commonly known as the BABES is a loosely-organized bicycle club
that offers rides in St. Clair, Monroe and Madison counites in Illinois, just
across the Mississippi River from St. Louis.
- Bicycle
Fun Club. Operated by Trailnet, the Bicycle Fun Club is the St.
Louis area's largest cycling group.
- Biketrip.org: A forum for long-distance cyclists. Contains articles about many journeys
and links to numerous other journeys throughout the world.
- Boeing
Employees Bicycle Club: This club sponsors the Tour de Donut and has weekly
rides.
- Carolina
Tarwheels: This club leads rides
in the Triangle region of North Carolina and surrounding counties. It has
a wide range of rides for all levels of cyclists.
- Central
Indiana Bicycling Association: This
large bicycle club has many rides each year, including the Hilly Hundred.
- Gateway
Council of Hostelling International: The St. Louis-based chapter offers opportunities
for low-cost travels and presents many cycling events each year, including
Moonlight Ramble and Tour de Stooges.
- Gateway
Off-Road Cyclists: GORC is a non-profit corporation dedicated
to advocacy, design, construction, and maintenance of multi-use trails.
GORC
is the St. Louis area’s only official International Mountain Bicycle
Association (IMBA) affiliate club.
- League
of American Bicyclists: This probably is the most prominent bicycling
organization in the nation. This site contains news about bicycling as well
as information about events sponsored by LAB.
- League
of Illinois Bicyclists: This organization is the primary advocacy voice
for all Illinois bicyclists, and it promotes access, safety and education.
- Missouri
Bicycle Federation: A non-profit, membership organization
that advocates advancement of bicycling access, safety and education in Missouri.
- Rail
to Trails Conservancy: This organization supports the conversion of abandoned
railroad lines into trails for bicycling, hiking and other activities.
- St.
Louis Regional Bicycle Federation: This group, founded in 2001, is working
to improve conditions for cyclists in the St. Louis metropolitan area, both
Missouri and Illinois.
- Trailnet: A
non-profit organization dedicated to creating and conserving multiuse
trails and greenways, and encouraging walking
and bicycling for recreation and transportation in the St. Louis region.
